Experience

I have been a full time MOE trained school teacher since 1998. Of the last 17 years, 10 of them have been spent teaching graduation classes (Sec 4Ex, 4NA and 5NA) exclusively. I am trained in, and have experience in the teaching of Literature and History, and have also branched out to become an SS specialist. I have extensive experience with the setting and grading of O and N level SS and History papers. I have experience collaborating with MOE HQ for the development of the new SS syllabus rolled out in 2016. I have served as an O level SS marker from 2012 to 2015, until I left MOE in end 2016. I began tutoring part time in 2006, but now I am a full time private tutor. I have had a total of 60+ tuition students so far, ranging from Primary school all the way to upper sec and/or graduating year students, and I have taught a range of subjects, including English, Literature, History and Social Studies. I have the experience and skills to take near passes/failures to distinctions. My methods rely heavily on practice, based on using my collection of papers culled from many years of teaching and also other papers shared with/by colleagues from other schools, and accurate grading of these papers, also based on my experience as a graduating class teacher. I also have PowerPoint slides and notes for evey History and SS chapter in the current syllabus, which I am very familiar with. In 2017 I had a total of 10 O level humanities students, of which 4 scored A1’s, 1 scored an A2, 3 scored B3 and 2 scored B4’s.
