Experience
Hi there. This is my first time providing tuition services for students. However, as a student who has been pursuing early childhood education in the past 6 years, I have had various opportunities to plan and teach children from 18 months to 6-years-old in various preschools in my practicums and internship experiences. Thus, I have sufficient experiences in planning activities from the 6 learning domains from the Ministry of Education Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) framework Singapore. In my time as a student, I also did many volunteering stints with children with special needs, student cares centres in the primary schools and worked with youths in tertiary institutions. Most of the volunteering experiences involved teaching and guiding children to learn skills and knowledge about subject matter such as providing assistance during their homework time in school and going to the home of a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to execute some activities with him and her. I also taught a child with ASD how to successfully ride his bicycle forward in 2018! I was also a relief teacher for 2 years in one of the anchor operator preschools and an assistant teacher in an enrichment centre for 3 to 7 years old. Thus, my varied experiences could provide assurance to you when I teach your child. Regarding teaching methods, I believe in using fun and engaging approaches to teach young children such as games, songs and storybooks to teach concepts, skills and dispositions necessary to lay the foundation in the early years. I am not a fan of assessment books but i would convert the content of the assessment books into an activity experience for the young children. Thus, i prefer using more hands-on approach to teach and learn with the children. Furthermore, learning is a two-way direction. Hence, I value children's inputs into the lessons such as what they would like to learn or engage more with. When preschoolers are engaged, they will develop sustain attention for life. :)
Commitment
I will be available from mid June 2023 to end-September 2023, about 3 months, before my full time employment begins. Note: I will officially finish University in May 2023, thus my official transcripts are not out yet.

I am NIE-trained to teach Chinese at Primary level. I have done coaching for children of relatives and friends to help them prepare for their PSLE Chinese exams. I have also taught lower Primary Mathematics in a government school for 7 years previously. I an bilingual so it helps when I am coaching students who are weak in either English or Mandarin.
I can start within short notice and will definitely try my best to complete a student's full academic year.
