Experience

Hi,

I graduated from Victoria Junior College in 2016 and Nan Chiau High School in 2014 and consistently performed well at the top of my cohort. Throughout those years, I possessed a strong conceptual understanding of all the topics taught in the Math & Sciences. I always took time to gain a full understanding of the concepts being taught. As a result, I scored the maximum grade with a high percentile for the math and sciences with minimum practicing for all examinations. (triple science in Sec School and PCME in A levels). Also, I scored 1570/1600 on SAT 1 in J2.

I had always been the go-to-person to clarify conceptual understandings, both informally and formally as part of peer tutoring programs in my schools. My personal belief in obtaining a strong conceptual understanding as the key to doing well for examinations and beyond will reflect upon my teaching methods. I will supplement the teaching efforts at the student’s school and help identify the student's weaknesses and build better understanding of the concepts. Then, I will try to translate what the student had understood into practice as they learn the skill of applying learnt concepts. I believe that being able to understand what he/she is learning will also greatly spur the student's interest in the subject and motivate them to do better.

I also possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills. I was the Vice-President of Nan Chiau High's National Cadet Corps, Vice-Captain of Victoria Junior College Cross Country, Captain of Victoria Junior College Track & Field, and served as an Infantry Officer (Platoon Commander) in the Singapore Armed Forces for my National Service. Hence, be assured that I would be able to communicate what I teach clearly and take ownership of the student's development in the subject and also holistically, and serve as a role model for someone close to my age.

Commitment

I will be able to start in November 2018 and be fully committed till July 2019. I can take the student almost anytime of the week as I do not have any other commitments during this period. Thereafter, I will be matriculating to NUS. Any commitment beyond July 2019 can be discussed, but there will be greater constraints on the schedule from my side.
